It’s been a while since I updated…
The past few weeks were pretty crazy.. I had loads of work and school stuff going on, and on top of that, my grandmother was visiting from Japan for a few weeks.
It’s been kinda stressful because I work at home, and my grandmother doesn’t really understand the concept of “working on computer” so I got really behind on work which I’m trying to catch up right now.
All in all, I’m glad I was able to spend some time with my grandmother.
My grandmother is super healthy, like… to the point she could probably walk faster than me. She loves drinking beer, enjoys gambling, and loves shopping. All signs of health haha. I think I take it for granted, and her visit made me think I’m really greatful for it. She can be a little needy and selfish but that is such a good thing. If she was in bed or something and couldn’t walk or have energy to argue with me, I would probably feel like I really wish she was the way she is right now. Haha.
Also, her character is so special, and there’s a lot I can learn from her. She really values that the small connections with people that surrounds her, and not afraid to express it. She’s really straightforward in her thoughts and sometimes it comes out like “why would you even say that..” but sometimes I feel that that’s how it should be to a certain point. I say things that I’m not thinking sometimes, whether it is good or bad. Anyway, she is a special one, and I really really hope she can continue to be her energetic self. I love her!
So now I’m finally back to my normal self, and so today I wanted to satisfy my curiosity in food, so I went to a Fillipino bakery I’ve been meaning to check out that’s been featured on yelp.V Tropical Bake shop.
This place did not dissappoint. There were so many things I’ve never had before, and my mom and I went crazy choosing what we want to take home. We took home sooo much.. Trying out all of these inthe next few days will be exciting..
Then we saw a sign that says Seafood City, and we just had to go. I think it’s filipino supermarket… but there were so many things I’ve never seen before!! It was seriously so fun. There was a huge seafood section which had so many kinds of pretty fish.. It was like porn to me.
I don’t really know anything about the source of the fish or whatever, but they are soo pretty….. Even after I stopped pursuing an aquarist career, the interest beauty of fish looks like it’s going to stay with me. I think I’ll come back here if I need some energy and inspiration. haha. I’m so weird.
Ok, and lastly I went to this … fast food place which is… i THINK also filipino, and bought a meal, and a king size halo-halo (hence the title). It was crazy interesting.
it had icecream, allll kinds of beans and jello and tapioca and..coconut,, and fruit… and CORN. corn. in a dessert. 0_o.
This made me miss Chiharu. I think she would be going crazy with me as we try it together.
Trying new food and culture is so fun. If you only eat fried chicken and baked potato your entire life, you’re missing out so much. Really.
Also, San Jose is awesome. So many culture, so many different food. I literally felt like I went to a different country for that hour.
